Public Meeting Announcement:
The Chautauqua Lake Partnership (CLP), a local non-profit lake organization, is advancing a broad set of projects seeking to improve the condition of Chautauqua Lake. One project includes support of the Town of Ellery’s recent issuance of a Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (DSEIS) for the application of herbicides to several targeted areas of the Lake.
“We applaud the Town of Ellery’s leadership on the Supplemental EIS. Upon completion later this Spring, their efforts will add another option, herbicides, to the management of the Chautauqua Lake weed problem. This modality is being successfully utilized all over NYS and the rest of the country, but has been noticeably absent here in Chautauqua Lake for decades,” stated CLP Board President, Dr. Jim Cirbus.
We encourage property owners in the vicinity of the lake and lake users to take advantage of the opportunity to comment on the DSEIS or come out and voice their support for the Town’s efforts at the Town’s upcoming DSEIS Public Meeting. It will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 7:30 PM at the Fluvanna Fire Hall located at 3536 Fluvanna Avenue.
Prior to the public meeting, community members may review the DSEIS available online at www.elleryny.org/html/legals.html or at the Town Hall located at 25 Sunnyside Avenue in Bemus Point. The Town Board will accept written comments on the DSEIS. Written comments should be sent to Ms. Rebecca Haines at PO Box 429 Bemus Point, NY 14217 or [email protected]. Comments must be received before 4:00 P.M. on Monday, March 12, 2018.
