As we reported in the Fall, North Carolina State University (NCSU) was contracted by the Chautauqua Lake Partnership (CLP) to do a comprehensive review of the lake weeds. CLP wanted to have this study performed with the intent on it being the basis for the permit requests from the local townships to the New York State Department of Conservation (NYSDEC) for weed herbicides (for Eurasian Milfoil and Curly Leaf Pondweed) to be applied in an effort to speed up the permit approval process.
